Hi Phil, here is a more accurate collection of bands that I feel are the real glue for my originals moving forward … some have remained from the previous version, but now it is very close to what I had in mind for years, but with a more clear understanding of WHY they are such important influences for me and the music that will come out next:
- Ensemble musicianship – Every player serves the song
- Roots foundation – Folk, blues, soul, rock, Americana (which I will consistently call Canadiana !!)
- Songwriting first – Arrangements elevate the writing, don’t replace it
- Sophisticated but organic – Not overproduced, but intentional and ‘mature’
- Storytelling perspective – Intentional, grounded, honest, spoken with experience
